Thanks for your suggestions! We always value input from our users, and take every comment into consideration when planning for future features and options.

A form builder has been talked about before. It's complicated on a number of levels, most notably what happens on the processing end. FlexCMS does have a built in form processor function, which you can find details on here. We're also in the process of integrating a new HTML editor into FlexCMS, which may include some of the front end form elements you're looking for as well. We may look at adding some sort of simple processing function that can email the results or store them in a generic database structure.

FlexCMS currently contains some CSS options for things like link colors, hover options, etc, which you can find in the Site Preferences section down towards the bottom. I would expect we'll add a good amount of other CSS options for the next version, and probably some CSS based templates as well.

Not sure what you mean about the option lists so feel free to respond and elaborate on that.

Site search is definitely on the development list, that's been a popular request.

Problem MYSQLApril 1, 2008 @ 9:33am
Ok. I installed and configured Flex with no problems. Everything was working as advertised, I was a happy camper.

When I try to go to the site today, I get:

Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Too many connections in /homepages/19/d237457273/htdocs/online/index.php on line 3482
Could not connect to database

I verified all my settings from my host control panel and everything looks fine. The SQL database is online and active with proper config. So, out of desperation I decided to try another install and got the error:

Warning: mysql_connect() [function.mysql-connect]: Too many connections in /homepages/19/d237457273/htdocs/online/install.php on line 471
Could not connect to database

This is the same error as line 3482 and line 471 are calling the DB username and passwd. So, did something happen at my webhost/SQL server or is it a known Flex problem?

Thanks

Just downloaded - but have a few suggestionsApril 1, 2008 @ 2:27am
Hi there,

First let me say that I think this is a brilliant tool. I have used many different CMS' (free and paid) and quite honestly have not seen something as clean as this for a very long time.
Thank you for all your hard work and such a great price (when I get round to purchasing).

Having just uploaded the free version (trialling) and going through the Admin panel etc......

A couple of things that I would find most useful:

Form builder/generator that would include:
*Field types:
text, text area, drop down, select, radio button/group, checkboxes (I know I am stretching things a little here).

*More CSS
A little biased also. I am an avid CSS user (not that hot with PHP but learning) so would like to be able to "find" and manipulate styles.

*Option lists
Countries

*Site Search Module

I do hope I haven't been too presumptious here.

Look forward to seeing this product grow!!

A search function is definitely high on our feature list. It becomes very complicated with FlexCMS because there are many different types of data stored in various formats. It's not as easy as most types of software where the data is all essentially same.

Most likely it will start with a forum search, and then get expanded to include other modules at a later time.

Depending on how frequently your site's content will change, you may be able to make something like the Google Site Search box work for your needs as well.

Christine,

Can you clarify what type of tags you're referring to? I'm not sure whether you mean HTML tags, META tags, the $TemplateTags templates array, or something else.

Yes, you can certainly change out any elements of the template you like. The images for each particular template are stored in the folder along with the template.php and template_info.php files. Really the majority of the template code is straight HTML, it's just packaged within some PHP to make all the dynamic aspects of it work.

And if you're not quite able to accomplish what you were looking for, we also offer custom template services starting from $25 for something like a custom color or photo in one of our stock templates.

Site Search on this site +April 1, 2008 @ 1:07am
Hi There,

When trying to find a solution to a question I may have its very hard scrolling through all the forum(s).

Will there be a "site" search module available to alleviate repeated questions (from my perspective anyway).

Cheers

Is there a "tag" reference list anywhere ++March 31, 2008 @ 11:35pm
Hi there,

Is there a list for the tags for reference?

Also is there any way that one can change the color of the graphics in a template (namely "corners")?

TIA

Hello,

Thanks for trying out FlexCMS. I'm glad to hear you like it!

It's not a secret society so do feel free to share with anyone else you think might be interested! The other thing we really appreciate is a rating and/or review on sites like HotScripts, Codango, Scripts.com, etc.

Happy Flexing!

Bill,

What you've described certainly sounds do-able. That's going to be a custom programming project, so please contact with those details above and we'll be happy do discuss it further with you.
