Subscribers Awaiting Confirmation | January 31, 2005 @ 8:22pm | On my website: Under Manage Subscribers, I see at the bottom of the page:

Delete Unconfirmed Addresses More Than 30 Days Old.
What does this mean? And how will I know if an address is ?unconfirmed??

There are two sections on the page with the list of addresses, 'confirmed' and 'unconfirmed'. When a visitor first types their address into the box and clicks the button to subscribe, they are added to the 'unconfirmed' section. At this time they will also receive an email with instructions (basically just a link to click or paste into a browser) to complete the process. When that link is visited, they move into the 'confirmed' section and will then receive your newsletter messages. This makes it so that only the owner of the email address can sign their address up for your newsletter, and protects you from some of the common problems associated with email newsletters.
As for the function to "Delete Unconfirmed Addresses More Than 30 Days Old", this allows you to remove anyone from the unconfirmed list who has been there for more than 30 days without confirming their subscription to your newsletter. Most likely they would be there because their address wasn't valid, or because they changed their mind or weren't the ones who signed that address up. You most likely won't need to use that function very often, but if the list of unconfirmed addresses starts to grow, you can use it periodically to clean it up a bit.
